The curriculum follows the following four movements:

Liturgy: We participate in the work of the God’s people with a call to worship, prayer of the people, and benediction. This begins in the main worship service with a release of the students and the sharing of the Christ candle light. Liturgy is led by students when possible, in the call and response style.

Commission:  We commission our children to their learning/ Let the light of Christ illuminate their understanding.  Candle

Call to Worship:

Leader: Children of God Welcome

All: This place is full of peace and grace

Leader: Help us Lord to see your face

All: And know the ways you love us.

Benediction: Thank you Lord for your presence in our gathering today/Help us know that we see your face, in Jesus’ love and peace and grace. Bless these children of God.

Lesson: Lessons are organised into triptychs of study for most lessons with occasional synthesis lessons. We close read text, images, and symbols, with ellements of repetition in order to build and deepen understanding. Children participate by choosing questions to construct meaning from the stimulus, and the teacher provides an extension at the end with a brief, scripted narrative highlighting an understanding of Jesus.

Stage 1: Studies Jesus' character as it is revealed in the gospels. We do this towards understanding how he is the

Christ who reveals to us God’s nature and heart for us and for this world.

Stage 2: Studies the marks of Jesus’ church through teachings from the New Testament and the stories of Christians

              through church history.

Synthesis Lessons: Occasionally, a synthesis lessons provide an opportunity to reflect on what we have learned

about Jesus and to focus on one trait and do an art project.

Connection: Children have an opportunity built in to have fun with art and toys and to connect with each other building the church in

         fellowship.

Reflection: At the end of each worship, children have a reflection statement made by the teacher.  It includes the emphasised aspect

of Jesus’ character from the triptych under study.

Reflection:  “May you know the ___________ of Jesus and of his church.   (Insert the word joy, peace, justice, etc.)
